Turning a traditional media buy into a traffic-driving promotional strategy

In addition to the work we’ve conducted for Treasure Island Resort and Casino, we have created wide-scale communications campaigns for four other casinos, including two in the Reno/Carson City (Nevada) market: Tamarack Casino Reno and Carson Valley Inn & Casino.

The Challenge
A favorite with Reno locals, Tamarack Casino features a casual atmosphere with friendly guest service and non-stop 24/7 gaming action. Tamarack features nearly 15,000 square feet of gaming floor, with over 500 slot and video poker games as well as a sports book, bars, a coffee shop, and Nevada Steak, a high-end steakhouse.
And Carson Valley Inn & Casino, a popular weekend destination, offers premier table games, 600 slots and videos, live poker, sports and pari-mutuel horse racing.
Linnihan Foy worked with both casinos on media and promotional strategies to grow their reputation in Carson City, an emerging population area in the Reno region.

Actions and Results
For Tamarack, Linnihan Foy put together a sophisticated media plan encompassing public relations and paid media. We leveraged relationships and paid media buys for promotional exposure, with specific initiatives including contests, on-air radio appearances, and progressive jackpot promotions. We successfully turned what had been a traditional media buy into a traffic-driving promotional strategy.

For Carson Valley Inn, we employed a multi-tiered strategy to drive casino visits, ticket sales for the Inn’s nationally notable entertainment acts, and engagement with their full suite of casino games. Linnihan Foy was able to increase Carson Valley Inn’s media exposure and impressions nearly twofold. And while Carson Valley’s budget was limited, our efforts increased their media performance by 80 percent for the same dollar as their previous spend.
